The Durango City Council becomes one of the first municipalities, following Muskiz, to implement FAST, our innovative flood prediction solution. Over the next year, our team will work closely with the municipality to strengthen its response capacity to a significant challenge: flooding in the Mañaria and Ibaizabal rivers.
The Mañaria River, which encircles the town center, poses the primary flood risk in the area. One of the critical points is the Santa Ana Bridge, whose limited hydraulic capacity makes it particularly vulnerable during heavy rain events. Meanwhile, the Ibaizabal River, which borders Durango near Iurreta, presents a lower potential impact overall but still affects key infrastructure, such as the municipal sports center, and the Francisco Ibarra Bridge, which frequently reaches its hydraulic capacity.
At IntelliAlert, we will conduct a comprehensive hydraulic analysis of the municipality and deploy FAST to monitor river conditions in real time. This solution will enable the City Council to activate response protocols more effectively, reducing the impact of potential flooding and ensuring the safety of its residents.
By adopting this technology, Durango is setting an example in innovation and prevention, leveraging cutting-edge tools to build a safer future in the face of climate-related risks.
